As the Marathi film industry grows, there is still a big thing to understand

Chandramukhi was released on April 29, while Dharamveer followed just two weeks later on June 13.

Dharmaveer, directed by Praveen Tarde and Sarsenapati Hambirrao, directed as well as titled by him, were released just two weeks apart.

While Bollywood and Hollywood make sure that their films do not conflict with popular films, even though the cast of stars may be completely different, the Marathi cinema fraternity seems to be slightly confused.

Chadramukhi and Dharmaveer – the first directed by Prasad Oak and the second titled by him – were released one after the other at the box office. Chandramukhi was released on April 29, while Dharamveer followed just two weeks later on June 13. Prasad had also expressed his difficulties in promoting the two films.

It’s not that. Dharmaveer, directed by Praveen Tarde and Sarsenapati Hambirrao, directed as well as titled by him, were also released two weeks apart. It creates confusion among the audience and they don’t know which movie to watch.

It’s a matter of pride for the cast and crew of a film when it hits theaters, and the box office collection turns out to be good. But due to this confusion, the overall collection of Marathi films at the box office is dwindling. In an exclusive interview with News18 Lokmat Digital, Pravin Tarde said, “It’s up to the producers to decide when the movie will be released.”

Sarsenapati Hambirrao’s promotions and success showed that the Marathi film fraternity has upped its publicity game. And while there have been a lot of improvements in the making and promotion of these films, the clash of two hype films has caused audiences to lose interest in at least one of them.
