At Kerala State Film Awards, KP Kumaran Receives JC Daniel Award

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan attended Nishagandhi Auditorium, Thiruvananthapuram for the presentation of Kerala State Film Awards. The awards night was also graced by other political figures including V Sivankutty, Anthony Raju and GR Anil as chief guests. At the inaugural ceremony, Pinarayi Vijayan said, “The industry is following the path less traveled and exploring new horizons. Awards like these will only pave the way for the growth of Malayalam cinema. Today, cinema is not just a means of entertainment, but a high-level art form.

The Chief Minister also hailed the growing participation of women in showbiz. The government has also allocated a financial aid of Rs 3 crore to encourage female directors in the film industry. Let’s take a look at the winners of Kerala State Film Awards:

At the awards ceremony, Thottam director KP Kumaran won the JC Daniel Award, considered the highest honor in Malayalam cinema.

Senior Journalist Sasikumar received his first Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chief Minister of Kerala for his comprehensive contribution to the field of television.

Actor Biju Menon and Joju George received the Malayalam film industry best actors award.

Actress Revathi received the award for best actress in Malayalam cinema.

Transsexual Negha Shahin received a special award for her debut film, Antharam.

Director and producer RK Krishand was awarded for Avasavyuham in the category of best Malayalam film.

Dileesh Pothan was awarded Best Director by CM Pinarayi Vijayan.

Actors Unnimaya Prasad and Sumesh Moor won Best Supporting Actors.

Vineeth Sreenivasan won the popular film award.

Pradeep Kumar has been named Best Male Playback Singer at the 52nd Kerala States Film Awards.

Finally, child artists Adithyan and Sneha Anu received the award for best child artist.

At the event, General Education Minister V Sivankutty released a book on Film Awards 2021 and presented it to Kerala Transport Minister Raju Anthony. Meanwhile, the second edition of Malayalam Cinema Naalvazhikal was launched by the Minister of Food and Civil Affairs, R Anil.
