Gotham Group signs ‘Last Film Show’ director Pan Nalin – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: The Gotham Group has signed with Indian director, screenwriter and producer Pan Nalin, whose latest feature film Last cinema screening was well received at Tribeca this year.

The photo – a tribute to cinema seen through the eyes of a young Indian boy – made its festival debut and became the first foreign-language film to be named Tribeca’s first Audience Award finalist. Samuel Goldwyn Films recently acquired the North American rights to the project.

Nalin’s previous film Angry Indian Goddesses won the Audience Award at the Rome Film Festival. His other works include Samsara and Valley of Flowers, and his films have collectively won 30 international awards to date.

Last cinema screening is about hope, unlikely hope, and a celebration of filmmakers who dare to share their dreams of a better future for all of us. Years ago it was the age of cinema, where phones weren’t smart, the net wasn’t flix, the box wasn’t a desk, and movies weren’t “contained” . So before it was too late I had to do the Last cinema screening with a positive and optimistic message that mediums of storytelling will continue to evolve and that storytellers need to keep up with this evolution, ”said Pan Nalin.

“We are delighted to welcome Pan Nalin to the Gotham family and introduce him to our colleagues in the city,” added Lindsay Williams, Gotham partner and head of the literary department. “Last cinema screening is such a joyful and exhilarating film – we can’t wait for the world to find out.
