Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state won the Most Film-Friendly State Award at the 68th National Film Awards announced at the National Media Center in New Delhi.
The state received the award for the second time after 2017. There were 13 states that participated in this category of National Film Award.
“The Most Film-Friendly State Award goes to Madhya Pradesh, while the Most Film-Friendly Award (Special Mention) goes to Uttarakhand and UP,” said Neerja Sekhar, Additional Secretary of the Ministry. information and broadcasting.
A 10-member jury headed by director-producer Vipul Shah met with Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Friday morning to submit their report on the 68th National Film Awards.
This year, there are 50 categories with over 300 feature films and 150 non-feature films competing for the awards. There are 30 different languages in the movies.
Besides President Shah, the jury members included Cinematographer Dharam Gulati, Nationally acclaimed Bengali actor Sreelekha Mukherjee, Cinematographer GS Bhaskar, A Karthikraaja, VN Aditya, Viji Thampi, Sanjeev Rattan, S Thangadurai and Nishigandha.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan congratulated all citizens of the state, tourism department officials and people associated with the film industry for the achievement. He invited tourists to explore the natural beauty and historical heritage of the state.
On the other hand, Tourism and Culture Minister Usha Thakur described the achievement as a matter of pride. She congratulated Principal Tourism Secretary Shiv Shekhar Shukla and officials from the tourism department.
Producer-director Vipul Shah said: “It’s been encouraging to see the kind of response that’s been received and the number of films we’ve been able to see. And it was a very difficult COVID time in which these films have been made or are in the process of being made.” Chitrartha Singh, who headed the non-feature film jury, said, “We were able to review nearly 140 non-feature films, including documentaries, and it is amazing to see the type of content that came out, especially from areas like the Northeast.” Journalist Anant Vijay chaired the Best Film Writing category.
