Moviegoers share the best movie to watch when your brain is in ‘shutdown’ mode

People all over the world love nothing more after a long, hard and trying day than to sit down, relax, put their feet up and watch a movie, especially if it’s just stuff undemanding and entertaining that doesn’t require you to even think.

Sure, it’s all well and good to enjoy existential three-hour epics once in a while, but there are plenty of other (and totally valid) occasions where you want to spend two hours of your time having fun. Whether it’s cult favorites, cheesy classics, guilty pleasures, or everything in between, fans on Reddit have named the movies they always come back to when their brains are completely turned off.

national treasure

It’s not exactly a shocking turn of events to see national treasure being so highly rated, as Nicolas Cage’s pair of implausible historical adventures have continued to attract new fans for 15 years Book of Secrets has been freed. There’s a surprising amount of love for Matthew McConaughey, though, with the frazzled duo of Sahara and Fool’s Gold being featured, which find the future Oscar winner playing the archetypal shirtless hunk who almost saw him typecast forever.

The fact that the mere mention of the 2006 comedy abyss Grandma’s boy instantly finds the comments section transforming into a list of quotes pulled straight from the screen highlights that the Happy Madison effort retains a significant level of support among moviegoers as well, proving once and for all that one person’s trash really are another’s hidden treasure.
